Britney Spears - Spears And Federline Heading To Custody Trial

Custody of BRITNEY SPEARS and KEVIN FEDERLINE's two young sons will be settled in a trial in August (08), after an attempt to settle out of court failed on Thursday (26Jun08).

The pair spent the day in talks with a mediator, but Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan has confirmed no agreement could be reached.

He tells E! News, "The mediation didn't result in an agreement that would avoid the trial set in August."

But he insists there was no breakdown in communication between the former couple, adding, "The mood was comfortable, positive and it was a mood that was consistent with opening at least a great dialogue, which is necessary.

"If the existing arrangement was acceptable to both parties... we wouldn't have to go to trial. But that didn't happen."

The trial is due to begin on 25 August (08), and would result in a final custody ruling.

Kaplan added that Federline is seeking sole physical and legal custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James. Federline was handed full custody of the boys after Spears was committed to a psychiatric facility to treat an alleged bipolar disorder following a stand-off with police and childcare officials in January (08).

Spears locked herself and her youngest son in the bedroom of her Hollywood home and initially refused to come out when a visitation period had ended.

Earlier this week (beg23Jun08), Spears was granted an extension to her custory rights when a judge agreed she could spend one night a week with her sons.

Tom Hanks - Hanks Urges Unions To Avoid Strike

Hollywood actor TOM HANKS has joined the calls for America's acting unions to approve a deal with studios to end the threat of an actors' strike this summer (08).

Actors are threatening walkouts at the end of June (08) if talks between the unions and major film studios fail to resolve a dispute over pay and conditions.

And now Hanks has added his name to an email petition urging members of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) to accept a deal offered by Hollywood chiefs.

If the union accepts the new agreement, it would be a major step forward in avoiding a strike which will cripple the U.S. film and TV industry - and put many thespians out of work.

Another actors union, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), is also negotiating a deal with the major studios - and SAG bosses are urging members of AFTRA to turn down the proposals.

Unable to complete a followup album to his satisfaction, Phillips concisely worked with British doomsters Solstice before restorative While Heaven Wept, and finalizing 1998's Sorrow of the Angels LP with the help of new bassist Danny Ingerson. Following the band's number 1 ever concert appearances afterward that year, some other drawn-out visit ensued as Phillips performed with Arise From Thorns, merely number 2001, While Heaven Wept were once once again reconvened, welcoming new members Scott Loose (guitar), Jim Hunter (bass), and Jason Gray (drums). Formed in 1998, the Cleveland, OH-based hard-core sextet Chimaira consists of singer/screamer Mark Hunter, guitarists Matt DeVries (world Health Organization replaced Jason Hager in mid-2001) and Rob Arnold, bassist Jim LaMarca, drummer Andols Herrick, and electronic specialist Chris Spicuzza. The band's miscellanea of hard-core, alloy, and electronics proven to be a big hit back home, as they sold 10,000 copies of their severally issued debut EP, This Present Darkness, leading to an appearance on the now-defunct USA Network TV evince Farmclub. The dance orchestra opened for the likes of Soulfly, Hatebreed, Spineshank, and Snapcase and was finally signed to Roadrunner Records, issuance their 14-track debut full-length, Pass Out of Existence, in August 2001. The Impossibility of Reason followed on Roadrunner in May 2003, and Chimaira supported the feat with encompassing touring, including dates with In Flames and appearances at Ozzfest 2003. After the release of the DVD collection The Dehumanization Process and plus of new drummer Kevin Talley (ex-Misery Index) in 2004, the dance orchestra unleashed their third gear album, Chimaira, in 2005. Though a hard record, inner problems and ones with their label threatened to charge the band apart in the months next its release. They soldiered through it all, however, and by fall 2006 Chimaira had moved on from Roadrunner, inked a new deal all over at Ferret, and began work on new material. Earlier that year, the stria too welcomed back original drummer Andols Herrick. More of a team composition campaign than their final album, the resulting Resurrection of Christ appeared in early March 2007 courtesy of a rejuvenated stria, and Chimaira supported its release on the road with Killswitch Engage and Dragonforce.

Duffy - Duffy Says No To Love

Welsh singer DUFFY refuses to commit to longterm relationships - because she is terrified of having her heart broken.

The 23-year-old - real name Aimee Ann Duffy - admits she is currently dating someone, and claims the romance is beginning to transition into "something more".

But the Mercy hitmaker insists she has no plans to become exclusive with her boyfriend any time soon.

She says, "I'm a commitment-phobe. Why? I don't know - it's the one thing I'm afraid of. It's tough, it just scares me... all of that stuff.

"I'm really happy on my own. Because that way, no one can hurt you... The reason I don't have it in my life is because they're only going to hurt me."
